Another voice in the crowd…

This is it.  I have finally done it.  My blog is now up and running and you are reading my first post.  In today’s world not a very big deal but there is still a sense of excitement, fear and now relief.  I held off because I believed that no one really wanted to hear about my personal stuff and I didn’t think I had that much to share.  I am a better speaker than writer and I have proven that daily, but here I am setting up a blog to discuss recruiting.

I am very passionate about recruiting and I know this because most recruiters or people I meet tell me –  “you are very passionate about your job”.  I did not fall into recruiting like most people do.  I actually targeted this job/career during my HR internship in the early ’90’s.  I think I am one of the few at the age of 21/22 that said “Yep, that’s what I want to be…a corporate recruiter.”

There are so many sites, blogs and recruiters out there with advice, tips, discussions, etc that I held off creating a blog for a variety of reasons but the main reason is I knew I would be just another voice in the crowd.  I have read many great blogs and there are many great recruiters out there stating exactly how I feel, or my approach to a problem or how I would handle a situation.  But I love to talk, I love to talk about recruiting and I love telling stories.  If it was not for them and their encouragement to stop talking and begin posting my “content” this would not be up.  Look for them on my blog roll, trackbacks or links in the future.

The purpose of this blog is to talk about recruiting.  I fully expect people to challenge my philosophy of recruiting, my comments about how to handle situations, clients, candidates, or my advice to candidates.  I look forward to it and I look forward to learning from whomever may read and comment about my posts.  Then maybe this voice in a crowd could advance the recruiting industry/profession one small step forward.  How cool would that be.

Thank you for visiting and reading.

Cheers,

Mark
